And now for the Lilli Pilli jam recipe.....

Lilly Pilly Jam

* Deseed berries and place in saucepan, just covered with water. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for around 30 minutes.

* If desired, strain the mixture through a sieve, or cloth.

* Measure the amount of liquid you have and return it to the pan. Add the same volume of sugar and the juice of 1 lemon per litre of liquid.

* Return to the boil, then reduce to a high simmer for around 30 minutes, before testing on a saucer to see if it has set (place a teaspoon full on a saucer and place in the freezer for a minute, if it has formed a skin when you run your finger through it, it is set).

* Bottle into hot sterilised jars.

Science in ABE

What is a Lilli Pilli?
How fast is your heart beating?
How do colours mix?
What is inside a bubble?

On Monday and Tuesday this week, stage 2  and the Migrant Youth Group were busy doing science experiments.
Anne took students around the college looking closely at different types of plants.
Jenny mixed milk and colours in an experiment with surface tension.
Madeleine and Sally helped students to find their own pulse and heart rate.
And Kerry showed people how to make better bubbles.

After the experiments, we all talked about what we had discovered.  What did you learn?

Holidays are Coming

Hi everyone,

The year is already starting to fly by. Soon it will be time for term one to end and the holidays to begin. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.
If you have young children you might like to look at some of these links for ideas about where to take them.
