On 7 November, it was the Melbourne Cup Celebration in the ABE Centre. All the classes from ABEjoined together.
The teacher told us how to make the hats.We cut the tulle with the scissors. We used a needle and thread to sew the tulle and put it on the comb. Then we used the hot glue to put the flowers and the feathers on.
We put our hats on and stared at each other. We looked beautiful and a bit funny.
We played a horse race game.First we had to pick out an owner and jockey. We picked our horses then started the race. The owner rolled the dice to move the horse The first horse to get to the end won the race. No-one cheated and we all had fun.
Everybody put some money in the sweep. We chose the number and then wrote the name next to the horse number. At 3pm after the race, we found out who won. The winners got some money. The lucky last horse won the wooden spoon.
Finally, we had a morning tea and then we had a conversation circle. We asked questions and got information about each other. Then there was a hat competition and we took a group photo. We all enjoyed the Melbourne Cup Celebration.

I liked Melbourne Cup day because I won $11 and one time a year big racing. It was interesting and all people wore beautiful hats and dresses. I was very happy.

I like it beacause it is so busy. There were lots of people and plenty of games. Some people wore nice dresses and beautiful hats.
Some people spend a lot of money on Melbourne Cup Day and lose it. They are not too happy.

Melbourne Cup day is the biggest Cup day of the year in Australia.
Everybody dressed beautifully in their hats. I made a green and pink hat with flowers.
The day was very interesting and exciting too.
