The Melbourne Cup

On Tuesday November 3, all the students from the centre joined together to celebrate the Melbourne Cup. Everyone combined to take part in four special activities.

First of all, they watched a video about the history and the culture of the Cup. It told them about the horses, the fashion and gambling on the day. It also told about a very famous horse called Phar Lap.

Next, they separated into groups. One group took part in a sweep, another group had a horse race and a third group did a quiz about the Cup.

There was one other group that was making hats called fascinators. People had to cut some net and sewed it onto a hair comb. Then they glued on a flower. Later, some people were wearing their hats.

This was an interesting day because I learned lots of things on this special day.

The Melbourne Cup morning was a lot of fun.
Here are some of the photos from the day. If you would like to see more, go to the P drive and look there.
