World Literacy Day

September 8 was named International Literacy Day by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. It was first celebrated in 1966. On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the importance of literacy and adult learning around the world.



Literacy opens doors to the world. It is the foundation for continuous learning and vital to the next generation .

In the 21st century, literacy is more than reading and writing. Today and in the future, learners must develop a range of literacy skills and strategies to acquire, create, connect, and communicate meaning in many ways.
